"The Presence of Christ"
Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.
On Easter Sunday, the dawning of the sun marks a new day in history for on that day every cemetery becomes an amazing, holy, resurrection ground of Christ. The plan that The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit put into place before the foundation of the world was to rescue humanity from its choice to live in sin rather than live with God in the Garden of Eden. We have fumbled in the darkness, at a distance from God, but God’s plan was to get us back and Easter Sunday is the day that makes it all possible. The cross marked the decisive victory of Christ over Satan and sin. At the cross, Jesus paid the price of our redemption and bought us back from the bondage of sin to set us at liberty and to set us free. The sign that everything had changed was when Jesus Christ, The Messiah, created earth’s air again. The promised Savior of the world stood on the other side of the grave. His suffering and death on the cross absorbed God’s holy wrath. Through His resurrection, He reached the reality of the life beyond the tomb and made it possible for Him to be the giver of life and the judge of mankind. His whole life from the cradle to the grave is unified by the glorious resurrection from the dead.
On that first Easter morning the celebration of all time broke out in heaven as the angels let loose with magnificent hallelujahs. Ironically, mankind is the one who received the greatest gift from Christ’s resurrection and yet we are the slowest to understand when Jesus took His first breath of earth’s air after His crucifixion, we are still trying to catch it, even yet today!
