Pastor's Passage - Acts 1:16, 17...26

16 Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.

17 For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.

26 And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles. ~Acts 1:16, 17...26

During this time of quarantine the world finds itself gripped, there is work the Lord has for the Church to be accomplished, Just as Judas’ suicide left the Apostolic number incomplete so too is there a void in Christ’s charge to His church, and that too, go and make disciples. We do not know who the Father has chosen to follow Him, but we do know that He has asked us to share His Word before the doors on which He is knocking. Just as the Apostles had not the power to accomplish this task, neither do we. This was to be fulfilled by the sending of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit came on the day of Pentecost and filled not just a selected few, but every believer that was present in the upper room.

On the day of Pentecost, in the Old Testament, the Jews took individuals grains of corn, ground them into flour, added oil and leaven, and made two loaves of bread. The loaves were then offered to the Lord along with seven lambs, one young bullock, and two rams. Ten sacrifices in all, to symbolize the perfection and completion of Calvary. All symbolized what took place fifty days after the resurrection of Christ, Pentecost always fell on the first day of the week, symbolizing the sacred purpose of a new way for a new order of things.

“On that day one hundred and twenty individuals went up the stairs to the upper room in one accord”. One body of believers came down. Individuals went up; a church came down. The phenomenon of the upper room was spectacular, but it was passing. The fact that the day of Pentecost was fully come proclaimed the death of the old ritual Jewish Pentecost and the birth of the church of God. Today, the world is in one unified effort to find a cure for the Coronavirus. Our Heavenly Father wants us to look at the nations of the world, not as hostile and threatening, but one of being is Mystical Body in Christ!
